Technical Recruiter

We're looking for a Technical Recruiter to help us build an exceptional engineering team. As our first dedicated recruiter, you'll own the full recruiting lifecycle—from sourcing and outreach to closing candidates—while helping us establish our employer brand and hiring processes.

About the role

This is a unique opportunity to be the first recruiting hire at a growing startup. You won't be filling a seat in an existing process—you'll be building the process from the ground up. You'll work directly with our founder and engineering leadership to understand what we're looking for, then go find those people.

We're not trying to hire fast at all costs. We're trying to hire the right people—engineers who are talented, collaborative, and genuinely excited about our mission. Quality over quantity, every time. You'll have the autonomy to experiment with sourcing strategies, interview processes, and candidate experience improvements.

Pupsli is remote-first, which means you'll be recruiting from a national talent pool. We believe great engineers can be found everywhere, not just in traditional tech hubs. You'll help us reach candidates who might not be on every recruiter's radar but would thrive in our environment.

What you'll do

  • Own the full-cycle recruiting process for engineering roles, from sourcing to close
  • Build and maintain a pipeline of qualified engineering candidates through proactive sourcing
  • Partner with hiring managers to understand requirements and develop effective job descriptions
  • Conduct initial screens to assess candidate fit and interest
  • Coordinate and manage the interview process, ensuring excellent candidate experience
  • Develop and refine our recruiting processes, interview frameworks, and evaluation criteria
  • Track and report on recruiting metrics, using data to improve our approach
  • Help build our employer brand through content, events, and community engagement
  • Manage our ATS and recruiting tools, keeping candidate information organized and up-to-date
  • Support offer negotiation and closing, working with leadership on compensation decisions

What we're looking for

  • 3+ years of technical recruiting experience, preferably at startups or high-growth companies
  • Track record of successfully sourcing and hiring software engineers
  • Strong understanding of technical roles and ability to assess engineering skills at a high level
  • Excellent communication skills—written and verbal—with ability to represent our brand compellingly
  • Experience with full-cycle recruiting, from initial outreach to offer negotiation
  • Proficiency with ATS platforms and sourcing tools (LinkedIn Recruiter, etc.)
  • Data-driven approach with experience tracking and analyzing recruiting metrics
  • Self-motivated with ability to work independently and manage your own priorities
  • Genuine interest in helping candidates find the right opportunity, even if it's not always with us

Nice to have

  • Experience recruiting for early-stage startups (Series A or earlier)
  • Background in recruiting for consumer products or social platforms
  • Experience building recruiting processes from scratch
  • Network in the engineering community or involvement in tech meetups/events
  • Previous experience in engineering, product, or technical roles
  • You're a dog owner who wants to work somewhere that shares your priorities

Compensation

$100,000 - $140,000 base salary + equity, depending on experience
